Linux Introduction Course - second course (winter 2024-2025)
In this course, you will learn about the following topics:
- Using the command line
- The ideas behind concepts like users, files, processes and permissions
- Linux directory structure
- Handling text and other files from the console
- The vim text editor
- A brief introduction automating tasks with shell scripting
Although this course is open to everyone, it is primarily geared towards cluster users. That means that neither Graphical User Interfaces nor topics that require root access (e.g. installation, administration) are covered. All topics covered are distro-independent.
This course will be held at least twice: on November 25-26, and on February 10-11. Additional course dates may be scheduled based on the number of registrations.
Registration happens via eCampus. The course may be held more than once, depending on presenter availability and number of registrations.
IMPORTANT: after registering, you MUST JOIN ONE OF THE GROUPS.
