Linux Introduction Course (winter 2023-2024)
In this course, you will learn about the following topics:
- Using the command line
- The ideas behind concepts like users, files, processes and permissions
- Navigating the Linux directory structure
- Handling text and other files from the console
- The vim text editor
- A brief introduction automating tasks with shell scripting
Although this course is open to everyone, it is primarily geared towards cluster users. That means that neither Graphical User Interfaces nor topics that require root access (e.g. installation, administration) are covered. All topics covered are distro-independent.
No prior knowledge is necessary. It is also not necessary to have cluster access beforehand.
Registration happens via eCampus. The maximum number of participants is 12, if more people register, the course will be repeated.
